CALENDAR 2023

The program follows the typical school year. Seniors are encouraged to contact, visit, and apply starting November through May. Consideration will be given to the open enrollment periods at Northeast Mississippi Community College as well.

Please contact us to setup a visit and a tour, during which time we will share enrollment opportunities and deadlines.

March: Plant tours

INTERVIEW PERIOD
Date range in which the industry partners conduct in-person interviews.

April: Interview process and selection
INTERNSHIP PERIOD
Date range in which the industry partners invite the applicants for a short period internship.

During the internship you, the applicant, and us, the industry partner, have an opportunity to get to know each other.


April: Short term internships (optional)
DECISION ON APPLICATIONS AND EMPLOYMENT OFFER
Date range in which the industry partners submit employment offers to the applicants.

The ultimate decision will be pending on the applicant's admission to the community college which is an integral part of the program.


April / May: Final decision on student selection:
PROGRAM START
Date at which the dual education program starts.

This will be your first day at work!


June 5: Begin summer work

August: Start school training and adjust work schedule

GRANT APPLICATION PERIOD
Date range in which the apprentices submit their grant applications to the state.

The program requires all applicants to apply for available state grants that help pay for college tuition. Acceptance to the program is not dependent on a grant being available to the applicant, only on application to available grant programs.


June 30: Completion of Pell Grant (FASFA) application
COMMUNITY COLLEGE APPLICATION PERIOD
Date range in which the apprentices submit their applications to the community college.

Applicants will need to submit their applications to the Community College partner. Admission to college is required as it is an integral part of the program.


July: Complete school schedule before attending NEMCC orientation
FINAL DECISION
Date at which the final decision of the applicants ability to join the program is made.

The final decision requires that the applicant received an employment offer from the industry partner, applied for available grants, and is admitted to the community college in the program that matches their field of interest lined out in the employment offer.


July: NEMCC admission needs to be completed to be eligible to participate in the program

August: Start school training and adjust work schedule
