PARTNERS

Our program consists of industry partners, local middle and high schools, North East Mississippi Community College and the Robert C. Byrd Institute.

Each partner adds a special set of values to this program. By working together, we bring value to our local community by offering educational opportunities for high school students, high level training and well paid jobs to the apprentices, and the expertise required to compete in today's and the future's economy for our industry partners. Together we help to grow and develop our local communities and neighborhoods.

Alcorn School District is determined to be on the cutting edge of innovation and has set the wheels in motion to provide its students financial-aid and educational opportunities that will prepare them for jobs in high-demand sectors and in skilled trades. The district has recently formed a 501-C3 foundation and is currently working to raise two million dollars to establish an endowment fund. The interest from that money will be used to offer student scholarships, classroom grants, apprenticeship grants, etc. In addition to raising endowment funds, the district is working on plans for a new career and vocational center. Doors have opened for them to acquire land adjacent to the NEMCC Extension Center, which is in the heart of industrial park. An architectural firm has been retained to start work on the plans, and the district has contacted several members of the state legislature to promote its plan and to discuss possible funding options. Providing a state-of-the-art career center will help our students graduate from high school work-force ready. The location is ideal for apprenticeships, internships, and job shadowing because the students will have easy access to businesses and industries. If you would like to partner with the district, contact Career Coach Rebecca Lewis at (662)415-0171 or rlewis@alcornschools.org..

Recognizing that RA is business driven, MAP works closely with companies to identify the occupations and skillsets needed on their job site and build out a RA program designed to meet their needs.
